Six Bay Area bands, DJ battles, rap battles, lucha libre, and more headline a free street festival celebrating music, small businesses, and the Tenderloin.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — On Saturday, July 11, Live on Larkin will host its first-ever Battle of the Bands, bringing together six Bay Area bands—Mostly Mammals, Katalysst, The Pranks, The New Acoustic Collective, Swami 3, and Sad Snack—to compete live on Larkin Street as part of the neighborhood’s free monthly street festival (12–5 p.m. on Larkin Street between Eddy and O’Farrell). The event is free for all ages.
The inaugural competition marks a new milestone for Live on Larkin, transforming Larkin Street into an afternoon of live music, neighborhood pride, and friendly competition while drawing visitors to support the district’s restaurants, shops, and small businesses.
“The Battle of the Bands is exactly the kind of joyful, community-driven experience we want people to associate with the Tenderloin,” said Kate Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of the Tenderloin Community Benefit District. “Live on Larkin is about creating reasons for people to explore the neighborhood, support our incredible small businesses, and discover the creativity that has always existed here. Whether you’re coming to cheer on a local band, grab a bite, or simply spend the afternoon on Larkin Street, we hope people leave with a new appreciation for the Tenderloin and the community that makes it so special.”
The Battle of the Bands is just one part of an event-wide “Battle” theme that will bring serious fun and friendly competition to Larkin Street:

- Rap Battles by The Ruckus Revival
- DJ Battles
- Lucha Libre matches by Proyección 2000 USA
- Fencing demonstrations by San Francisco Fencing Academy
