I LOVE TENDERLOIN WEEK FILLS THE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH PRIDE

I Love Tenderloin Week 2026 brought neighbors, small businesses, nonprofits, artists, residents, and Tenderloin allies together for a joyful celebration of our beautiful neighborhood. The week kicked off with SFLuv’s community clean-up, complete with music as volunteers gathered supplies and got organized. Throughout the week, community members enjoyed everything from flower arranging and movie nights to ice cream socials, happy hours, bar crawls, coffee crawls, and neighborhood food tours. Local restaurants also received some extra love through creator-led videos highlighting Tenderloin favorites. Follow our social media acounts and check them out!
Thank you to the Office of Economic & Workforce Development, the Tenderloin Museum, our nonprofit and business partners, content creators, residents, and Tenderloin allies who continue to make this celebration possible.
A SUMMER EVENING OF MUSIC AND TENDERLOIN LOVE IN DODGE ALLEY

This month’s 2nd Thursday Dodge Alley event, presented by the Tenderloin Museum, kicked off summer with an evening of Afro-Cuban music in the heart of the Tenderloin. Latin Grammy-nominated vocalist José Andrés “El Sinsonte” and friends led a special celebration of changüí, the African-rooted party music of Eastern Cuba, joined by several talented Bay Area musicians. TLCBD also helped support local restaurants by distributing nearly one hundred food vouchers redeemed at some of the most beloved Tenderloin eateries.
The evening also honored the life of former, recently passed Clean Team member Gerardo Borras, a beloved colleague remembered for his kindness, warmth, and love of music. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Gerardo’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
TENDERLOIN COMMUNITY RALLIES AGAINST BUDGET CUTS

TLCBD joined Tenderloin Community Action Plan (TCAP) partners, including GLIDE, St. Anthony’s, Tenderloin People’s Congress, TNDC, and the Iman Network, to help organize a community action at City Hall calling for continued investment in the Tenderloin. More than 100 community members gathered on the steps of City Hall with a clear message: no cuts to the Tenderloin. Speakers emphasized the need to protect residents, youth, families, and seniors who deserve continued support from the shared priorities of the TCAP Investment Blueprint.
TLCBD’s very own Esan Looper spoke about the importance of continuing the work the community has already asked for, urging City leaders to lean into what is working as they consider budget
decisions.
LITHIUM-ION BATTERY LEGISLATION PRESS CONFERENCE RECAP

City and community leaders, including Kate Robinson, gathered for a press conference earlier this month to address the outsized risk lithium-ion battery fires pose in the Tenderloin, a neighborhood already disproportionately affected by residential fires, including December’s blaze at 50 Golden Gate, which displaced an entire building of tenants and destroyed the TLCBD’s own office.
With improperly certified batteries linked to over 120 fires citywide in the past five years, the legislation is an important step toward prevention in dense neighborhoods where a single fire can ripple outward for years. On June 23rd, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed an ordinance banning these batteries.
