Title: Park Captain Manager
Reports to: Director of Parks & Stewardship
Full-Time Position: 40 hours/week
Compensation: $64,400/year (Paid Semi-Monthly)

The TLCBD Park Captain Manager will be responsible for fostering a clean, safe, and inviting network of three parks in the Tenderloin: Turk-Hyde Mini Park, Sgt. Macaulay Park, and Boeddeker Park. This position will manage a 7-day-a-week Park Captain stewardship program, including supervising a team of Park Captains, supporting parks programming and operations, and directly engaging with community members. This position will spend approximately 30 hours per week at the parks supporting stewardship and 10 hours per week in the office carrying out the administrative aspects of the position such as meetings, developing training, creating program supporting documents, and working with the Inviting Space team.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a Park Network Captain stewardship program which consists of stewards who are present at the park for all open hours to foster safe, clean, and inviting parks and to build relationships with diverse community members
  • Supervise the Park Network stewardship program, directly managing a staff of Park Captains including scheduling shifts (including your own), communicating program needs to all staff and TLCBD staff, and training staff on TLCBD Park Captain approach
  • Directly support Park Captains with administrative needs including shift changes, PTO questions, and other administrative items
  • Supervise and help facilitate TLCBD Park Captain training approach, including creation of training procedures and scheduling training for all Park Captains by working closely with Director of Parks & Stewardship
  • Ensure that staff exemplify professionalism and outstanding teamwork, better serving the community through their strong relationships and joint efforts
  • Ensure that Park Captains compile weekly data reflecting park attendance and work with Director of Parks & Stewardship to create system for data collection
  • Recruit future Park Captains by working with Director of Parks & Stewardship in outreach
  • Support hiring process for all new Park Captains by ensuring all paperwork is submitted to People & Culture team
  • Manage all payroll reporting in a timely manner
  • Engage with park users to create meaningful connections that foster a safe and inviting environment
  • Deescalate situations when needed utilizing TLCBD Park Captain training approach
  • Develop shared community agreements for park use and care by and with community members and residents
  • Assist with set-up and storage of equipment for programming activities as needed
  • Work closely with the Director of Parks & Stewardship to support and execute the Park Network and Inviting Space vision

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience managing an on-the-ground staffing operation including scheduling personnel, hiring, training, and recruiting
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision and the recruitment and retention of key personnel
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff
  • Experience with program development, oversight, and evaluation
  • Basic working knowledge of Excel and other software programs for payroll reporting
  • Ability to work effectively and interact professionally with a diverse, multicultural, and interdisciplinary team and population
  • Compassionate and empathetic communication approach
  • Knowledge of the Tenderloin neighborhood, either as a resident or professional (preferred)
  • Multilingual (preferred)
  • Experience with de-escalation skills or willingness to learn
  • Willingness to learn TLCBD Park Captain policies and practices
  • Ability to work outdoors for long periods of any time in all weather
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

Title: Director of Finance & Administration
Employment Status: F/T Exempt ; Hybrid Schedule
Compensation: $120,000-$140,000  (No Relocation Allowance)
Reports to:  Executive Director


The Director of Finance and Administration will be a strategic thought-partner, who is mission driven and meticulously detail oriented. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) as part of a leadership team, this position will be a hands-on and participative manager with excellent communications skills to relay financial information to a diverse set of audiences – Program and Operations Directors and Staff, Funders, Board and Leadership.

This executive will have extensive experience in non-profit finance and administration, governmental contracts and grant finance administration. They will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, grant budget development, management and reporting, and administration. They should have experience being the lead, and having final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, for reporting and audit coordination for multiple program areas, and will preferably have previously overseen a finance team with administrative functions with interfaces to operations groups.

The Director of Finance and Administration will oversee the position of Controller/Financial Analysis, AP/AR/GL and Admin, and coordination with external accounting services firm. They will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team across Policy & Advocacy, Operations, and Development in strategic decision-making and operations as TLCBD continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance and administration leader to maximize and strengthen internal capacity and controls.  We are seeking someone with a passion for community-based work, compassion and respect for diverse and underserved neighborhoods and people, and the ability to communicate effectively and lead financial decision-making that has real on-the-ground impacts.


Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Monthly, Quarterly & Annual Financial Report development for senior leadership team, Treasurer and Board of Directors to include: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement and quarterly forecast for revenue, spending and funding gap analysis.
  • Analyze and present financial information in an accurate and timely manner; collate financial reporting materials for all funder segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors; assess any changes necessary.
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ED; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Manage organizational banking, cash flow and forecasting.
  • Support a robust grants/contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure both adherence to the contract billing and collection schedule and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the Finance Department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
  • Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the ED, Board Treasurer and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure that Finance Department policies and processes are consistent and streamlined.

Administration

  • Oversee AR/AP and Administration, including oversight and collaboration with HR/Payroll and senior leadership in the roll-out of more robust DEI policies and practices, and oversight – including benefits, 401k, etc.
  • Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing financial systems with significant knowledge of accounting and reporting software to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Minimum of a BA in finance, accounting, economic/business or related field. CPA and/or MBA are very strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of overall professional experience in finance/accounting and administration; ideally six-plus years of broad financial and administrative operations management and experience overseeing/managing a Finance Department.
  • Experience in Monthly, Quarterly & Annual Financial Report development for senior leadership team, Treasurer and Board of Directors to include: the balance sheet, income and expenditure statement, cash flow statement and quarterly forecast for funding gap analysis.
  • Track record in grants financial management with experience managing multi-year and multi-program funding via federal, state, city and/or county grants as well as government contracts with a strong understanding of financial regulations and common practices.
  • Successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision-making.
  • Experience in audit preparation and management.
  • Adept and experienced with QuickBooks and know-how in systems like Bill.com
  • Experience managing IT service providers, vendors, facilities, and lease management is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
