BACK-TO-SCHOOL FUN ON LARKIN
We sent summer out in style at Live on Larkin’s Back-to-School block party on August 8th. Families filled the street for live music, games, sensory play, hands-on activities, giveaways, and plenty of fun for little ones. Over a thousand visitors came through to explore our streets as a place to play, explore, and support small businesses. Thanks to everyone who came out, and we hope to see you at this month’s Live on Larkin!

PARKS
What a month for events in the parks!
At Boeddeker Park, we held a concert featuring DJ Sonido Aztlan playing modern cumbia music. We also hosted a Boogie Racers Event at Macaulay Park featuring a 30-foot long Hot Wheels Track. Each of the 50 children who participated received a Hot Wheels car to race on the track and keep. Finally, we hosted artist Marcela at Turk-Hyde Park, who provided face painting and temporary tattoos for the 20 kids in attendance.
FIRST THURSDAYS
ART WALKS
The August Art Walk was full of energy (and, of course, art)! We saw a great turnout and an increase in sales in support of small businesses and artists. Low Key Skate Shop even donated part of their proceeds to Hospitality House, a non-profit serving the Tenderloin and SOMA neighborhoods. Added activations included DJs and live performers, and August also featured a new participant, Art Academy, who hosted art shows at two of their locations! We look forward to the continued growth of the Art Walk.
TRANSGENDER HISTORY MONTH
DODGE ALLEY
In honor of Transgender History Month, TLCBD partnered with the Tenderloin Museum for a vibrant 2nd Thursdays at Dodge Alley featuring an evening of live drag and dance. Neighborhood favorites Miss Jaylyn and San Francisco Drag Laureate Per Sia brought dynamic performances to the street, while DJ Brown Angel kept the crowd moving all night. The celebration brought neighbors together for another lively evening of music, performance, and community in the Tenderloin.

BUSK IT!
28 Hours of Live Music! Since launching in August in partnership with the Mid-Market Business Association and Foundation, the program has brought a dozen musicians to businesses along the Larkin Street corridor. As we head into September, the lineup is expanding with eight new bands ready to bring even more music and energy to Larkin Street.

KIDS SUPPORTED ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Thanks to our Safe Passage team and community partners for showing up for our kids!
For many families in the Tenderloin, Monday, August 17th marked the first day back in school. For TLCBD’s Safe Passage Program, it also marked the first day back to a nine-month routine that helps kids safely walk to and from school. TLCBD staff also supported additional activations at Elm Alley, also known as Midge Wilson Alley, a long-time community leader in the Tenderloin and one of the most influential voices behind the Tenderloin Community School, the only SFUSD school in the Tenderloin.
