TENDERLOIN PUBLIC SPACE IMPROVEMENT OPEN HOUSE

Earlier this month, dozens of residents and community partners joined the Tenderloin Public Space Improvement Open House at Dodge Alley to share ideas and learn more about upcoming neighborhood greening and alley improvement projects. The event showcased how the Tenderloin Community Action Plan (TCAP) is guiding local investments in public spaces—from art activations to safer, more vibrant corridors. TLCBD staff were on hand to connect with neighbors and highlight the community partnerships that make these improvements possible.
A REVITALIZED TENDERLOIN RECREATION CENTER ON THE WAY

We were proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the renovation of the Tenderloin Recreation Center alongside Mayor Daniel Lurie, Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, and District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. The ceremony marked a major milestone in bringing new recreational opportunities to Tenderloin youth and families. TLCBD’s own Cyntia Salazar shared heartfelt remarks about the power of public space to foster connection, safety, and belonging—values at the core of our mission.

Earlier this month, Supervisor Bilal Mahmood and Drug Free Sidewalks hosted a thoughtful panel discussion, Raising Resilient Youth in the Face of Public Drug Use in the Tenderloin, featuring representatives from Safe Passage, De Marillac Academy, and The Salvation Army who discussed how to support youth and families navigating the challenges of public drug use. TLCBD’s Tatiana Albasi spoke about Safe Passage’s role in creating safer streets and empowering local students to thrive. The conversation underscored the importance of collaboration between community organizations and City partners to ensure every child in the Tenderloin has the chance to grow and succeed.
