The First Thursday Tenderloin & Lower Polk Art Walk is a community-led monthly event hosted by gallery owners, artists’ studios, and other businesses and event spaces in the Tenderloin & Lower Polk neighborhoods of San Francisco. The Art Walk takes place every first Thursday of the month from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (times at each participating venue may differ). The event is currently managed by Moth Belly Gallery and sponsored by the Tenderloin Community Benefit District via the 2024 TL Cultural Events & Activations Mini Grant. Get your drumming on with Dana Fontana! Join us at The Healing WELL SF as we rejoice in the rhythm of the drums. The TenderArts Drumming Circle is a Covid-safe, empowering, and joyous moment for us to come together and celebrate. Dana Fontana will lead us through a variety of rhythms, the rudiments of improvisation, and basic drumming techniques. Drums will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own percussive instrument!
Tenderloin Museum has teamed up with our neighbors to offer an evening-length experience of our block at its best! The “Leavenworth Passport” starts at TLM for a historical mini-tour of the 300 block of Leavenworth St., stops at Azalina’s for a tasting menu of Mamak Malaysian cuisine, and lands at the Black Cat for an evening of live jazz by the Joel Wenhardt Quintet Feat. Jazz & Justice Sunday will begin with GLIDE Memorial Church's renowned Sunday Celebration! Come and hear Minister Marvin K. White’s inspirational message of Hope & Unconditional Love. It is a unique SF Glide Church experience! Additionally, hear the jazzy & melodic sounds of Maurice Shelby, a famous & celebrated Jazz Artist, who will be featured at both the 9:00 AM and 11am services. After joining GLIDE's Sunday Celebrations, join us at a Glide MC Luncheon in Freedom Hall. Meals will be prepared by Jonathon Fennell, GLIDE's Chef for the community. Then from 1:00 PM -3:00 PM, come hear updates, events, GLIDE MC news, social justice campaigns, community partnerships, opportunities & events for youth coming up in 2024!
