MISSION LOCAL’S GREEN SPACE PANEL

TLCBD’s Community Organizing & Partnerships Advisor, Esan Looper, joined several Tenderloin partners for a Mission Local panel on the future of the neighborhood’s parks and green spaces. The conversation explored expansion, accessibility, and ensuring that kids, families, and the broader community can access and enjoy the neighborhood’s parks. We are grateful to our community partners including the St. Anthony Foundation, the San Francisco Planning Department, and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, for a thoughtful discussion on how to ensure green spaces remain a resource for everyone in the Tenderloin and San Francisco.
RECOGNITION OF TATIANA ALBASI

In honor of Women’s History Month, we are proud to recognize Tatiana Albasi, our Safe Passage Program Manager, for receiving a well-deserved commendation from Supervisor Mahmood. Born and raised in Russia and having worked in Yemen, Tatiana’s commitment to community health and wellbeing long preceded her time with TLCBD; she graduated from medical university in 1995 and earned a Master’s degree in medicine in 1998. For nearly 10 years, she has worked in the Tenderloin to improve safety and support for youth and families. Tatiana joined as a volunteer in 2016, and her strong leadership and dedication to community service led to a series of advancing roles: Shift Lead (2017), Program Coordinator (2018), Assistant Manager (2022), and Manager of the Safe Passage Program (2024).
Every day, Tatiana and her incredible team show up to ensure that children can walk to school, seniors can navigate their neighborhood, and every pedestrian in the Tenderloin can move through the streets with confidence and peace of mind. We are so proud of you, Tatiana!
TRIBUTE TO MIKE VOUNG

In recognition of Boys & Girls Clubhouse Director Mike Vuong’s nearly 16 years of service, we are so proud to recognize him for receiving a well-deserved commendation from Supervisor Mahmood. Mike’s impact over the last decade and a half has been immeasurable: in addition to his role as Clubhouse Director, he’s served our community as a TLCBD board member and board president from 2019-2024, and board member for the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation since 2022. Filled with neighborhood pride, “I Love Tenderloin Week” was also Mike’s brainchild. From guiding a dedicated team of staff and interns to overseeing program operations and community engagement of the Tenderloin Clubhouse and Boeddeker Park to building meaningful connections across the community, Mike embodies what it means to show up — not just for our youth, but for an entire neighborhood. Congratulations and we wish you the best on your future endeavors, Mike!
STATE OF THE STREETS PRESENTATION

Earlier this month, TLCBD hosted the State of the Streets to discuss a number of neighborhood priorities, including the Larkin Street Revival Project with community residents, organizations, and local businesses. The project will advance priorities from the Tenderloin Community Action Plan, build on existing partnerships for safety and cleanliness enhancements, further business owner support, and leverage models for investment and stewardship from Sergeant Macaulay Park. Core projects include expanded Clean Team operations, efforts to address vacancies, decorative backlit security gates, and regular celebrations.
TLCBD is always excited to share upcoming projects with the community. We truly appreciated the thoughtful feedback and engaging questions from the audience. To continue the conversation or to participate in one of the activations, please reach out to TLCBD Small Business Manager Justin Bautista at justin.bautista@tlcbd.org or Director of Community & Business Engagement Cyntia Salazar at cyntia@tlcbd.org.
