It’s official! The Tenderloin is now the first San Francisco neighborhood to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph. Signage reflecting the new speed limit, along with ‘No Turn on Red’ signs are expected to be in place and enforced by mid-April.
This is a major step towards reducing traffic violence, especially in a neighborhood where every street is on the High-Injury Network. Special thanks to the community members who have been rallying for more pedestrian-safety streets, the TL Traffic Safety Task Force, SFMTA, Matt Haney, TNDC, CCSRO Collaborative, Walk SF, SF Bike Coalition, and Boys & Girls Club.
In other pedestrian safety efforts…

Pedestrian Scrambles
Two more Pedestrian Scrambles will be installed and activated at the end of April, including the diagonal crossing signals. They will be at Eddy/Mason and Ellis/Jones.
