STREET OPERATIONS PROGRAM PAVES THE WAY FOR A SAFER TENDERLOIN
We’re excited to introduce the Street Operations Program, which is focused on enhancing the safety and cleanliness of the Safe Passage Route and Business Corridors. Our highly trained Street Operation Specialists will provide a roaming presence to assess safety, respond to safety concerns and incidents, and promote positive community stewardship through education and training. Through close collaboration with residents, businesses, and local authorities, this program aims to create safer streets, reduce incidents, and support vulnerable populations to safely navigate the sidewalks. We’re committed to making a meaningful impact and look forward to sharing our progress as the program grows.
TENDERLOIN LEADERS UNITE IN CALL FOR DREAM KEEPER INITIATIVE FUNDING
We and fellow Tenderloin organizations recently collaborated on an op-ed for the San Francisco Examiner, calling on the city to release promised Dream Keeper Initiative funds. Our collective message emphasized the importance of these funds in addressing longstanding inequities affecting San Francisco’s Black and African American communities. Through the Dream Keeper Initiative, essential support is provided for economic development, cultural programming, and community empowerment.
We remain committed to ensuring accountability, transparency, and equity in funding nonprofits doing this vital work despite ongoing challenges. We thank the Curry Senior Center, GLIDE Foundation, Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, Larkin Street Youth Services, Code Tenderloin, Chinatown Community Development Center, and the Southeast Asian Development Center for helping amplify this shared message.
GET READY FOR GivingTuesday!
GivingTuesday is December 3rd, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is a global movement created in 2012 to encourage widespread giving that has inspired hundreds of millions of people to collaborate and celebrate generosity.
Your contributions, no matter how big or small, to organizations like TLCBD will directly fuel initiatives that enhance safety, cleanliness, and community engagement across the Tenderloin. From our longstanding Safe Passage program, to our newfound Street Operations teams, every dollar helps us continue making a meaningful difference for our residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Now is a better time than ever, please donate to TLCBD through our online website.
UPCOMING EVENTS TO CELEBRATE THE SEASON
The holiday season is just around the corner, and that means it’s almost time for the Tenderloin Tree Lighting! Mark your calendar for Friday, December 13th, when we’ll gather to light the large tree at Boeddeker Park and celebrate the spirit of the season with friends, family, and neighbors.
Looking ahead to the new year, we’ll be hosting our next Block Group Convening on January 9th at CounterPulse. These gatherings are a wonderful way to connect with the community and stay informed about our work to keep the streets clean, safe, and welcoming. If you’d like to get involved, please reach out!
