The City is accepting applications for those interested in holding a seat on a newly-established Street-Level Drug Dealing Task Force. There are approximately nine seats available, with requisites such as a seat for an individual with relevant expertise, as well a seat for a community member with direct experience, and other community members who have been deeply impacted as a result of the open drug market in the Tenderloin, Soma, and other central city neighborhoods. You can read all of the descriptions for open seats here. Three additional seats not listed will be filled with appointees from the criminal justice system.
From the notice:
Applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be contacted by the Rules Committee Clerk once the Rules Committee Chair determines the date of the hearing. Members of the Rules Committee will consider the appointment(s) at the meeting and applicant(s) may be asked to state their qualifications. The appointment(s) of the individual(s) who are recommended by the Rules Committee will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval.
Find the application through the City’s website here or download the PDF.
This Task Force comes as a follow up to the hearing called by Supervisor Haney on April 25, 2019. You can watch video of the hearing (jump ahead to 2:40:10), for the statement/presentation by TLCBD Safe Programs Director Kate Robinson. You can also read a transcript of the statement here.
TLCBD’s Tenderloin Thrives Initiative continues to work in collaboration with community members, stakeholders, and City agencies to deepen understanding while working to end systemic forces that perpetuate community harm in the Tenderloin.
