As we wrote in the past, Downtown Streets Team (DST) is working in partnership with Block by Block to provide cleaning services throughout the 29 blocks of the Tenderloin Community Benefit District boundaries. In June alone, the Downtown Streets Team members collected more than 23,000 lbs of garbage and properly collected and disposed of 710 needles.
DST will continue to hone the leadership potential of team members. Building on outreach efforts to engage un-housed neighbors in their unique program, which works to combat homelessness through the dignity of work. Downtown Streets Team reports they’ve seen a major boom in attendance of their already packed weekly success meetings, further proving the desire of many to seize opportunity.
Grab a bag lunch and join us on Monday, July 17th from 11:30am to 1:00pm at Boeddeker Park to meet some of the Downtown Streets Team members as we share our appreciation for the work they do and welcome them to the Tenderloin.
