International Friendship Day & July's Tenderloin Lunch Passport

TNDC’s Community Organizing department will be celebrating International Friendship Day on Wednesday, July 31st from at Boeddeker Park - a day that honors the struggles that youth face all over the world. The purpose of the event is to promote unity, peace and friendship between people of different ethnic backgrounds. More than 13 organizations/groups will be tabling at the event. Join in for family-friendly fun, including games, prizes, and performances from neighborhood groups. All are welcome!

TLCBD Renewed with Resounding Support!

What stood out more than the outcome was the supporters who came to speak on behalf of TLCBD and their neighborhood. Dozens of people turned out to talk about why the TLCBD was important to them. They told personal stories about how their connections with our Corner Captains, our Clean Team and our staff had made a difference in their daily walks, the cleanliness of their sidewalk, their feeling of safety and their connection to the community.

Yolo County attorneys & law enforcement received a leadership & empathy training at Glide [Daily Democrat]

A visit to San Francisco’s Tenderloin District “immersed” Yolo County attorneys and others in law enforcement into the issues surrounding homeless, addiction and mental illness. The effort was designed to increase empathy in addressing homeless issues. During the training at the Glide Church in San Francisco, police officers, prosecutors, and other leaders in the criminal justice community from California and Oregon were given what is being called “21st Century Leadership Training.” Read more via the Daily Democrat.
