La Cocina's Municipal Hall Progress & Celebration
On September 11, La Cocina hosted an evening event celebrating the progress that’s been made with their “most ambitious project yet” — the creation of the La Cocina Municipal Marketplace at 101 Hyde (at Golden Gate Ave). You can track the project’s progress and also donate to creating the country’s first women-led food hall here.
Per La Cocina’s website, “The La Cocina Municipal Marketplace is a 7,000 sq.-ft food hall located at 101 Hyde Street in the Tenderloin. Currently slated for opening in 2020, the Municipal Marketplace will be home to seven fast-casual restaurants operated by La Cocina incubator businesses. An additional kiosk space will feature rotating pop-ups and a lounge will be open for late-night drinks. The engine of the Marketplace will be a commissary kitchen for seven vendors with extra capacity to be offered to other La Cocina participants and budding entrepreneurs from the Tenderloin neighborhood.
The Marketplace is made possible with collaboration from:
Philanthropic donations from individuals and private foundations
The City and County of San Francisco
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Generous pro-bono work by Perkins + Will Architects, Farella, Braun + Martel LLP, and sponsorships by many local corporations
