CELEBRATING EARTH DAY IN THE TENDERLOIN
Earth Day is just around the corner on April 22nd, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate the people and places that help keep our neighborhood green. We’d like to give a special shout-out to our Parks Team, who work hard every day to make Tenderloin parks clean, safe, and welcoming spaces to enjoy the outdoors. The Parks Team invites you to enjoy nature in the heart of the city at Boeddeker Park this Friday (4/18) for family-friendly activities, including an open art session and casual hangout.
If you’re looking for more ways to get involved in Earth Day activities or local green initiatives, check out Refuse Refuse’s trash pickup events.
THANK YOU HELEN BEAN
YOUR WORK HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE!
After years of dedicated work in the Tenderloin, Helen Bean has stepped into retirement—and while we’re excited for her next chapter, we’ll certainly feel her absence.
As TLCBD’s Small Business Advisor, Helen has been a steady advocate for Tenderloin businesses for over a decade and a trusted guide for neighborhood businesses, helping them navigate challenges, access funding, and build lasting visibility. From leading campaigns to spotlight local storefronts to championing resources behind the scenes, Helen has been a steady advocate for Tenderloin businesses.
Her work has made a real difference, and her presence will be missed by colleagues, partners, and the business owners she supported with such care. Thank you, Helen—we wish you nothing but the best.
EID IN THE TENDERLOIN
Earlier this month, the Tenderloin came together for a lively and well-attended Eid al-Fitr celebration. With the support of more than a dozen local groups, including TLCBD, the event turned Jones Street and Golden Gate Avenue into a festive gathering with food, music, and activities for all ages.
The day featured local vendors, live performances, and plenty of ways for families and neighbors to enjoy time together. It was a meaningful reminder of what shared celebrations can bring to a neighborhood, and we look forward to seeing this event continue in the years ahead.
TLCBD JOB FAIR
On April 10th, TLCBD hosted a successful Job Fair at Boeddeker Park, welcoming around 200 job seekers from the Tenderloin and beyond. We were especially encouraged to see strong interest in our Clean Team, with over 70 attendees expressing a desire to join the crew. A big thank you to all the participating employers and partners who showed up with meaningful job and career opportunities for local residents.
We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future. If you’d like to learn more or connect with one of our job fair partners, email us at [email protected].
