Celebrating Our New Home at 48 Golden Gate Ave
We’re excited to share that TLCBD has a new home! Our headquarters at 48 Golden Gate Ave is now the heart of our operations, embodying our commitment to safety, cleanliness, and local pride. Our opening party on January 18th was a vibrant gathering of neighbors, local business owners, partners, and friends, celebrating past achievements and upcoming initiatives. This expansion, a testament to our team’s hard work and leadership, marks a new chapter in our mission to empower and revitalize the Tenderloin community.
January Mini-Grant Activations: Empowering the Tenderloin Community
This January, in partnership with the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OWED), TLCBD proudly commences the distribution of mini-grants to inspiring projects that promise to invigorate the Tenderloin neighborhood. These grants are a cornerstone in supporting initiatives with well-defined goals and strategies, all aimed at providing economic and community benefits. Focused on projects that enhance the livelihood of local artists, businesses, and residents, these activations are instrumental in shaping a positive and dynamic narrative for our community.
From the rhythmic beats of the CounterPulse drumming circle to the artistic flair of SF First Thursday Art Walk, the mini-grants are bringing a diverse array of events to life. The TL streets will also see a culinary renaissance with food trucks and concert series brought to you by your truly, SFOEWD, the Civic Joy Fund, Curry Senior Center, and The Phoenix Hotel. Additionally, Arab Women & Youth Voice, in collaboration with TLCBD and the Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), utilized their new resources to host a Safety Workshop at Boeddeker Park, underscoring our commitment to fostering a safer and more connected community. Each event, from art displays to safety conversations, not only enlivens our streets but also strengthens our communal bonds, showcasing the Tenderloin’s unique and spirited character.
Tenderloin Spotlight: Azalina Eusope – A Culinary Beacon in the Heart of the Tenderloin
This month, our spotlight shines on Azalina Eusope, the culinary force behind Azalina’s restaurant, who embodies the resilience and diversity of the Tenderloin. Her Malaysian-inspired cuisine brings a unique flavor to our community, enhancing the positive narrative of the neighborhood. Azalina’s journey, from overcoming challenges to creating a celebrated local business, mirrors the enduring spirit of the Tenderloin.
Adding to her impressive achievements, Azalina now serves on the SF Streets & Sanitation Commission, representing the voices of women and immigrant entrepreneurs.
