A pandemic-era pedestrian space in the Tenderloin is getting a whole lot greener, in more ways than one.
The San Francisco County Transportation Authority on Tuesday approved $1 million through Proposition L sales tax funding to make the “Golden Gate Greenway” on the 100 block of Golden Gate Avenue permanent and install additional green space.
Once a timeline is finalized, the road — which lies between Jones and Leavenworth streets — will be reduced from two lanes to one lane of vehicle traffic. Family play areas, seating and foliage will also be installed on both sides of the street.
