Our Economic Opportunity team recently completed a survey of over 50 businesses in the Tenderloin, exploring the the history and characteristics of business owners in the neighborhood, as well as their business goals and needs.
Many of the neighborhood’s hardworking business owners shared insight into topics like the impact of both the pandemic on their businesses and the impact of current sidewalk conditions, as well as the types of assistance that would allow them to better recover and succeed in the Tenderloin. Respondents include owners of restaurants, retail stores and a number of other types of businesses. 80 percent are immigrants and almost half of the business owners surveyed are women.
