The Tenderloin Community Benefit District (TLCBD) is dedicated to leading the evolution of the Tenderloin into a vibrant community for ALL. A critical component of this work is ensuring Tenderloin streets are neighborhood streets safely serving the tens of thousands of people who walk, bike, and roll here every day.
To support the evolution of Tenderloin streets into safe neighborhood streets, our Pedestrian Safety Program works to advocate for transformative street changes and supports educational outreach efforts regarding such physical street changes.
In addition to physical changes to build safety into the street design, we will also need better and more consistent traffic enforcement to help protect the people using sidewalks, crossing the street, and riding their bicycles every day. Current enforcement efforts are not proving effective at reducing red light running, turning into pedestrian crosswalks, and reducing speed.
TLCBD has partnered with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition to explore new ideas for enforcement – building on community efforts and experience so that we can advocate for increased, more consistent and more effective enforcement that protects everyone in the neighborhood.
