The Tenderloin will make an appearance at the SF Shorts Film Festival, thanks to the heartfelt film “Tan Paints the Tenderloin.” The film is centered around Tan Sirinumas, a Thai immigrant who finds creative inspiration and a new home in the Tenderloin. Tan was recently featured in our TLTogether series, designed artwork for some of the new Bigbelly trash cans, and is a go-to artist in the neighborhood. Watch the video, produced by filmmaker Matthew Joseph Bunker here.
You can also follow Tan and his upcoming projects on his website and Instagram page.
“I like to present a friendly reminder that we live in a beautiful place. Yes, there are challenges. But if you spend time, and take a little longer, you will see what I see and start to appreciate the neighborhood.
*If you missed the annual art auction last week, it’s not too late to be a Hero for artists.
