Sandwiched between #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday, is the sweetest shopping trend of ‘em all—SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY! Focused around local businesses, shopping local can be more of a year-round practice, but here are some local spots in the Tenderloin to keep in mind as you shop for loved ones on your gift-giving list.
Want us to add your local biz favorites to this list? Email info@tlcbd.org.
Get a Tenderloin hoodie for yourself, or a bear wearing a Tenderloin hoodie…You’ve got options when it comes to finding TL neighborhood pride gear at Tilted Brim.

Launching in June 2019, Threads For Therapy (TFT) has been an awesome neighborhood addition. TFT is an advocacy clothing brand that provides therapy resources for kids with special needs. TFT partnered with SF City Impact to opening a kids and woman’s thrift store and will provide therapy resources for kids. (So, not only are they making really cute branded items for the whole family, it’s for a worthy cause.)

Vacation SF, which is soon moving across Larkin Street on the corner of Ellis St, is a vintage fashion treasure trove. You can find them at their current location (651 Larkin St) with plenty of items on sale until they officially move. Also browse their online store for frequent new additions.

From enamel pins, to books and t-shirts the Tenderloin Museum is a great place to both learn about the Tenderloin’s rich history and take some of that TL spirit with you.
The Match Book is a must for the SF art/history art buffs on your list. The Match Book resurrects the Tenderloin’s overlooked history of restaurants, bars, hotels and other business establishments through these daily objects. In many cases, the matchbooks are the only evidence we have that the businesses existed. Bonus points for the spine of the book also being made of matchbook material!

If the idea of collecting art both excites and scares you (price-tag-wise), fear not! Swim Gallery showcases some of the best of Bay Area art, with many pieces still in the affordable category. Maybe this is the year you will become someone who collects art!
They also have an ‘Art Changes the World’ t-shirt, if you’d like to support the gallery but are on a tighter budget.
