Tilden Tuesday Art Opening at TILDEN HOTEL
Date: Tuesday, October 1, 5-8pm
Location: 345 Taylor Street
Check out the pop-up art gallery by featured local artist: Laurie Blessen. To kick off the two-month residency, Tilden Hotel will host a casual welcome reception on Tuesday, October 1 from 5-8 p.m. in the lobby to honor the featured artist in what is known as Tilden Tuesday. The event is a bi-monthly gathering that takes place on the first Tuesday other month. Open to all, the night features complimentary elevated bar bites and beverages crafted by The Douglas Room, the hotel’s signature restaurant and bar. RSVP to attend.

Block Fest: Discover the Weaver in You at COUNTERPULSE

Have you ever been curious about weaving? Interested to learn but think it’s too hard? Join CounterPulse and Rachel Lozada in this fun-filled activity where you’ll discover your inner weaver. Designed for beginners, we’ll be using simple, accessible looms that you can easily replicate at home. Come learn about weaving traditions from different cultures. There Will Always Be Roses in San Francisco at the TENDERLOIN MUSEUM
Opening reception: October 3, 6-9pm
A free public celebration of the fourth Aunt Charlie’s art exhibition, featuring the work of Marissa Leitman,and performances by the queens featured in the exhibition. In this exhibition, Marissa Leitman’s vibrant photographic work focuses on High Fantasy at Aunt Charlie’s, and it pays homage to a bygone era of quirky, rowdy, experimental drag that rebels against glam and redefines drag for a new generation. Opening reception: October 3, 6-9 p.m. Drag performances by High Fantasy performers at 7:30pm, featuring Mandy Coco, Shane Thomas, Silk Worm, and Brittany Smears.
SF First Thursday Art Walk: Tenderloin and Lower Polk

Mark your calendars! The next SF First Thursday Art Walk is set for Thursday, August 1st. Come check out the multifaceted display of color and imagination. Make sure to visit their website for a list of participating galleries and to download the map. Over 20 galleries and art spaces bringing together the arts and culture of the surrounding Lower Polk and Tenderloin communities.
Madonna: “Madame X” Tour at GOLDEN GATE THEATRE

The rock legend is performing her Madame X tour in smaller venues and has chosen historic Golden Gate Theatre for her San Francisco engagements.
Block Fest: Let’s Start From Scribbles, Let’s Start From Scraps at COUNTERPULSE

You are invited to join Kat Geng once more in making unique sculptures from repurposed colorful odds and ends. Think Mr. Potato Head of contemporary sculpture. Through 3 interactive stations, Kat Geng will share her creative process—from the conceptual stage to the markmaking that leaves the mind to rest—by inviting guests to create their own sculptures using everyday objects. Participants will make these assemblages to take home or share in the process giving birth to collaborative sculptures.
