Juneteenth is a celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was proclaimed on January 1, 1863. Two years later, on June 19th 1865 Union Soliders landed in Texas with the news that the Civil War had ended and the enslaved were free.
Join TNDC as they celebrate the freedom, resilience, resistance, restitution and remembrance of Black people in the United States, at this Juneteenth Celebration! The theme this year is ‘The Voice of Liberation’. It will include a talent show, food and music!
