Bearing Witness: An exhibition of artwork by Sherri Ling Lu and Axel Osterberg at Hospitality House Community Arts Program

Unearthed Stories at Block Fest at COUNTERPULSE
Date: Friday, February 1, 2019, 3-5pm
Location: CounterPulse, 80 Turk Street
Throughout the month of January, UNEARTHED artists will collaborate with Tenderloin community members to tell their own stories through video interviews, stop motion animations, and personal footage. The stories will be presented alongside UNEARTHED video installations during Block Fest in the CounterPulse gallery, with a free communal meal at 5pm.

Faces of the Tenderloin with Magic Theatre at PIANOFIGHT
Date: January 31, 2019
Location: PianoFight, 144 Taylor Street
“Faces of the Tenderloin” is written, created and performed by Tenderloin residents. This show, created by the Making Magic group, is free and open to everyone. The show is one hour in duration with a Q&A/chat to follow. More info.
Tilden Tuesday Art Event
Date: February 5, 2019, 4-7pm
Location: Tilden Hotel
Free and open to all, the night features live music and complimentary small bites and beverages crafted by The Douglas Room, the hotel’s signature speakeasy-style bar. In a dedicated commitment to shine a light on San Francisco’s spirited creativity and engaging community, the featured artist’s art will be displayed in the lobby for eight weeks, providing a space for thought and respectful discussion for hotel guests and locals alike.

Concerts at CENTER FOR NEW MUSIC

The Center for New Music (C4NM) fosters contemporary music’s growth by giving practicing artists access to professional resources and expertise, and by providing them with opportunities for sharing knowledge and exploring new ideas. On evenings and weekends, C4NM presents concerts of all types of new creative music, from contemporary classical to avant-garde, to new jazz, and more.
Writing Workshops with SF Writing Institute

SF Creative Writing Classes hosts year-round workshops, classes, lectures and performances in Creative Writing. Located in the heart of the Mid-Market neighborhood, we offer premier writing instruction from dynamic, vetted instructors. Come join the fun. All are welcome.
SF Recovery Theatre presents Night at the Black Hawk, at PIANOFIGHT
Date: February 16, 2019, 10pm to midnight

SF Recovery Theatre will present their flagship production of A Night at the Black Hawk; an ongoing original jazz musical reflecting on the lives and stories of the artists, musicians and residents that lived in the shadow of the Tenderloins’ own, Black Hawk Jazz Club.

From live music to magic, find a little bit of everything at SF’s premier indie arts venue. PianoFight is a community-driven indy arts venue that takes pride in partnering with local artists to make great shows, mouth watering eats and delicious cocktails adding up to a uniquely San Francisco experience. Piano Fight includes two intimate theaters and cabaret stage that hosts music, comedy, plays, dance, film screenings, drag, magic, variety shows and more, while the restaurant and bar serves up new American bites and classic cocktails.
