Uncle Vanya at CUTTING BALL

Vanya was once a brilliant intellectual but now, suddenly, he realizes that he’s squandered twenty years managing his family’s farm. Eschewing love and personal acclaim can take its toll on a psyche, so is it any surprise that he eventually cracks, especially with all these family members under one roof? Comic, caustic, and true to life, Uncle Vanya challenges us to find value in the things that we take for granted.

Combustible Residency 2018 at COUNTERPULSE

Join CounterPulse for a double bill evening featuring works by 2018 Combustible Residency artists: Daevron & Raissa Simpson’s PUSH Dance Company and Deborah Slater Dance Theater & John Fesenko.
Combustible is a lab for intersecting art practices with dance and technology. This year CounterPulse presents works that confront San Francisco’s fractured geographies and the digital divides in our everyday lives.

SF First Thursday Art Walk: Tenderloin and Lower Polk

Mark your calendars! The next SF First Thursday Art Walk is set for July 8, 2018. Come check out the multifaceted display of color and imagination. Over 20 galleries and art spaces bringing together the arts and culture of the surrounding Lower Polk and Tenderloin communities.

From live music to magic, find a little bit of everything at SF’s premier indie arts venue. PianoFight is a community-driven indy arts venue that takes pride in partnering with local artists to make great shows, mouth watering eats and delicious cocktails adding up to a uniquely San Francisco experience. Piano Fight includes two intimate theaters and cabaret stage that hosts music, comedy, plays, dance, film screenings, drag, magic, variety shows and more, while the restaurant and bar serves up new American bites and classic cocktails. They provide space and infrastructure to hundreds of artists, who create and stage 1,500 performances for over 50,000 audience members each year. During the day, we are the home base for the offices and classrooms of community non-profits like Tenderloin Walking Tours and Code Tenderloin which runs a job-readiness program for TL residents.
