As reported by SF Chronicle and various media outlets, San Francisco Mayor London Breed made time within her second day in office to tour the Tenderloin. The visit, according the Chronicle, was unscheduled without no prep from cleaning crews or law enforcement, thus providing an unfiltered look at what many experience in the Tenderloin on a daily basis.
From the article, “Breed led a gaggle of department heads through the city’s grittiest neighborhood. Her point? To send a message that she’s going to clean the streets and care for those living on them.”
In addition to the impromptu Tenderloin tour, Mayor Breed spoke at GLIDE church as part of their Sunday service to announce the demonstration of an educational opportunity for those interested in learning more about safe injection sites. The demonstration site will be held at GLIDE during the end of August. To learn more or schedule a tour, visit the Safer Inside website here.
TLCBD is encouraged by Mayor Breed’s presence in the neighborhood and willingness to work directly on the issues affecting quality of lives in the Tenderloin and throughout San Francisco. We are here to help.
