C4NM fosters contemporary music’s growth by giving practicing artists access to professional resources and expertise, and by providing them with opportunities for sharing knowledge and exploring new ideas. On evenings and weekends C4NM presents concerts of all types of new creative music, from contemporary classical, to avant-garde, to new jazz, and more.

SF First Thursday Art Walk
Location: Various locations throughout Tenderloin and Lower Polk
Date: July 5, 6-10pm (every First Thursday)
Mark your calendars! The next SF First Thursday Art Walk is set for July 8, 2018. Come check out the multifaceted display of color and imagination. Over 20 galleries and art spaces bringing together the arts and culture of the surrounding Lower Polk and Tenderloin communities.

Want to get involved in your neighborhood? Join CounterPulse and a group of diverse Tenderloin stakeholders to serve as the voice of the TL community. As a Working Group member, you will be providing advice to CounterPulse on making decisions that impact the community. You will be directly involved in helping CounterPulse deepen their Tenderloin engagement, as they continue to represent the TL in our everyday work.

Celebrate World Fringe Day at EXIT THEATRE

Celebrate #WorldFringeDay with the San Francisco Fringe Festival!
The Fringe tradition was born in Edinburgh back in 1947 and now, 71 years later, there is a network of more than 200 festivals across the globe. On July 11th, festivals worldwide are celebrating this extraordinary milestone and all that Fringe stands for.
Whether you’re a fringe performance-maker past / present / future, a festival administrator or staffer or technician or volunteer, a participant within the nationwide and worldwide fringe circuit, or a patron of this grassroots theatrical tradition, come ring in 71 years with Exit Theatre.
The Cafe at EXIT Theatre will be open from 5pm to 7pm. Pizza and beverages will be provided. In the spirit of community, please feel free to bring something to share!

“Neon Home” at TENDERLOIN MUSEUM
Location: 398 Eddy Street
On view: June 12 – August 10
Neon Home is a group art exhibition of neon-centric work featuring photographs of historic neon signs in the Tenderloin and around the Bay by photographers Mark Carrodus, Merideth Grierson, Randall Ann Homan, and Al Barna. The show gets its name from its centerpiece: a glowing neon sign-sculpture called “Home/Hotel,” a collaboration between SF Neon and Oakland based tube bender and neon artist Shawna Peterson.

PIANOFIGHT, Multiple Live Performances Nightly

From live music to magic, find a little bit of everything at SF’s premier indie arts venue. PianoFight is a community-driven indy arts venue that takes pride in partnering with local artists to make great shows, mouth watering eats and delicious cocktails adding up to a uniquely San Francisco experience. Piano Fight includes two intimate theaters and cabaret stage that hosts music, comedy, plays, dance, film screenings, drag, magic, variety shows and more, while the restaurant and bar serves up new American bites and classic cocktails. They provide space and infrastructure to hundreds of artists, who create and stage 1,500 performances for over 50,000 audience members each year. During the day, we are the home base for the offices and classrooms of community non-profits like Tenderloin Walking Tours and Code Tenderloin which runs a job-readiness program for TL residents. PianoFight – live and local since 2007.

A Social Justice Film Festival, presented by GLIDE LEGACY COMMITTEE
Thursday, July 12, 6:30-9pm
Location: Tenderloin Museum, 398 Eddy Street
The Bay Area is full of moving stories that embody the mission of GLIDE, which is to create a radically inclusive, just and loving community mobilized to alleviate suffering and break the cycles of poverty and marginalization. The GLIDE Legacy Committee has selected a handful of documentary short films by local artists that beautifully reflect GLIDE’s values and message, which are rooted in transformation, empathy, and inclusion.
Drinks and light refreshments will be available. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
