Tenderloin! Head down to Civic Center Plaza for a special tree lighting event on December 5th from 5-7pm. There’s a whole lot planned for the event with Honey Mahogany emceeing, toy giveaway, performances, and drinks (naughty and nice variety). Not to mention appearances by Scrooge and Santa.
From the organizers:
Bundle up, and bring your family and friends to eat cookies, drink hot chocolate, listen to music, and kick-off the holiday season with the San Francisco Civic Center Plaza Tree Lighting!
Host Honey Mahogany will emcee the night of entertainment, which includes performances by vocalist and X-Factor finalist Jason Brock; a cappella glee club Scales of the City, San Francisco A Cappella; The Tap Dancing Christmas Trees; and members of Boxcar Theatre‘s Speakeasy, such as Nick A. Olivero, who will lead a Christmas parade of children to the event. Christmas VIPs such as The Great Dickens Christmas Fair‘s Scrooge and Ghost of Christmas Present, and the man-of-the-hour — Santa himself — will also be in attendance.
As in years past, the San Francisco Police Department will lead a toy giveaway for kids 12 years old and younger, and offer free popcorn and candy canes. Noe Valley’s Homestead Cookies and hot beverages, including Irish Coffee and hot chocolate, will be available for purchase.
The event is sponsored by the Civic Center Community Benefit District, San Francisco Police Department, San Francisco Public Works, San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, Another Planet Entertainment, and Civic Center Commons.
