The TLCBD would like to name Officer Elia Lewin-Tankel our honorary Neighborhood Hero of the Month as he continues his road to recovery.
On Monday, officer Elia was transferred from SF General to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center brain injury unit to continue his recovery after suffering a traumatic brain injury in the line of duty on October 18th.
Officer Lewin Tankel is well known by community members for his sincere presence and approach to his work.
ON November 29th, from 5:30-10:00pm, the San Francisco Police Officers’ Association, the Northern Station Community Police Advisory Board and Another Planet Entertainment are staging a benefit for Officer Elia Lewin-Tankel at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
The event includes a full bar, live music, small plates, and a silent auction. Tickets are $40 and available at the door.
A gofundme page has been setup to aid his family in mitigating living expenses while they stay by his side during the long recovery. Community members may receive updates on the gofundme page regardless of whether or not they can donate.
In October, we honored neighbors along Turk Street for their voluntary efforts to beautify their blocks. Have a neighborhood hero you’d like to nominate let us know here.
