Following the tragic news of Tenderloin Station Officer Elia Lewin-Tankel’s serious injury suffered the line of duty on October 18th, many have expressed a desire to show their support to Officer Lewin-Tankel and his family in this time.
SF Examiner brings word of a GoFundMe, which has garnered some 40k of a 60k goal as of posting time.
According to the Examiner:
“The fundraiser is for Lewin-Tankel’s wife, Shideh Etaat, a public school teacher at Mission High School whose paid-time off is running short, according to McEachern [whom set up the page and has been providing updates to friends, colleagues, and community members].

Officer Lewin-Tankel’s has asked for good vibes, thoughts, and prayers.
In a related article from SF Chronicle’s Vivian Ho, TLCBD director of communications Fernando Pujals said, “He’s one of those officers that makes himself known to the community . . . He talks to people, looks them in the eye and treats them with respect. He approaches his job with care, and when you talk to him, you feel that he’s really listening.”
