Courtesy of Tenderloin Museum by way of Mr. Fortuna
There is no lack of talent and potential, too often hidden, in the Tenderloin. The Tenderloin Museum, by the simple opportunity of its existence, seems to have surfaced one of those latent talents. On July 6th, the museum held the opening celebration for Peter Fortuna, a Tenderloin Story, which features photographs and ephemera of Mr. Fortuna, who came to the Tenderloin after a storied career in photography and fashion.
Hoodline picked up on the story, and later Beyond Chron shared their take, with a unique observance of other little known notables who’ve traversed the Tenderloin.
Fortuna struggled for years with alcohol addiction, but has been sober for several years and is currently at work on a documentary film and book of nonfiction. Make sure to check out the exhibit, which runs through the month.
What other Tenderloin notables, in the history books, or sadly omitted would you like to see recognized? Let us know.
