SF Chronicle’s J.K. Dineen looks in at a new development project by venture-backed Starcity. With properties in western SoMa and Mission, Starcity is set on turning a long vacant, former Turkish bathhouse at 229 Ellis Street into their next communal living space. Starcity, according to their website, is working to fill the widening dearth of middle-income housing in San Francisco by turning commercial buildings into communal housing. According to the article, the project would provide 56 furnished units at about $2000/month. Residents would share common areas including kitchen, living rooms, outdoor space and kitchens. Wi-fi, utilities, and a regular cleaning would be included. Access the full article at SF Chronicle.
