Photos: Sunday Streets in the Tenderloin

The second Tenderloin event of the Sunday Streets season took place on Sunday, September 8, with multiple community activations taking place throughout the neighborhood. While it may have been a bit difficult to hit all the activity hotspots without a bike or wheeled mode of transportation, it looks like fun was had by all. This fall’s event also marked the inaugural Getting There Together Celebration at the Civic Center, which took place in conjunction with Sunday Streets.

Photos: 2019 Walk for Wellness

Saturday, July 27th was the Walk for Wellness—a day for exploring our neighborhood green spaces, getting a little exercise, and meeting some new friends. The route included stops at the Tenderloin National Forest, the newly re-paved TL Rec Center; and the currently-being-renovated Turk/ Hyde Mini Park and Sgt. Macaulay Park. The event concluded at Boeddeker Park with live music, lunch, games…and bubbles! Thanks to all who joined us!

Yellow Brick Road Awards: Honoring our After School Program Partners

On Thursday, May 30, Yellow Brick Road Awards took place at Boeddeker Park. This was an opportunity to recognize the hard work of our after school program partners who work every day to build a culture of safety through Safe Passage.” This year’s Yellow Brick Road Award was given to Kroc Center/Salvation Army for their outstanding work with youth in the Tenderloin. Additional awards were also given to the YMCA and Boys & Girls Club. Special thanks to Tenderloin Station for co-hosting this event!

San Francisco Citywide Summer Resource Fair heads to the Tenderloin (Feb 21)

SF Department of Children, Youth and their Families (DCYF), the SF Recreation & Parks Department, and the SF Public Library will host a Pop-Up Summer Resource Fair at the Tenderloin Recreation Center on Thursday, February 21. The Pop-Up Fair will feature exhibitors that offer camps, classes, programs, and services for children and youth ages 3-18 who live in the Tenderloin community and across the City as a whole. The City's public community forum “Conversation on Housing and Community Development” for Tenderloin (District 6) residents

On Tuesday, January 22, three City departments (the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD), the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) and the Planning Department) are holding a “Conversation on Housing and Community Development.” This is a chance for these departments to gather input from the public and to inform the development of six strategic plans.

Cutting Ball Theater's 'The Tenderloin Tour' Returns! (Multiple Dates & Free Performances in the TL)

As part of Cutting Ball Theater’s 20th Season, they are reprising its original docu-play, The Tenderloin Tour. The Tenderloin Tour opens on January 9 and runs through January 26. Performances will be hosted at community sites throughout the Tenderloin neighborhood such as Glide Memorial Church, Boedekker Park, the San Francisco Public Library, and the Tenderloin Museum as well as Cutting Ball Theater’s own venue.
