Of the $12.3 billion budget, Mayor London Breed announced $11.9 million will go to adding seven new pit stops and 80 Big Belly garbage cans to the City in an effort to keep the streets clean. The Tenderloin community has been calling for a much-needed 24-hour pit stop. Public Works, in partnership with nonprofit Urban Alchemy, currently maintains five pit stops in the Tenderloin; one pit stop that’s opens until 8pm and the others close at 4pm, leaving many people, without a bathroom option after those hours.
