On Wednesday, August 30th, experience a Safer Taylor Street with an interactive pop-up event that promises to bring a range of demonstrative prototypes including wider sidewalks, seating areas, greenery, and a bike lane to Taylor Street. Stop by anytime between 12pm and 6pm.

About the event, courtesy of SFMTA:

On Wednesday August 30, help us envision a safer Taylor Street by joining our on-street pop-up design workshop.

This event is part of our ongoing outreach work for the Safer Taylor Street project, through which we've heard from the community that making Taylor Street safer and more comfortable for walking and biking is critical.

This pop-up workshop will help us determine the best long-term safety improvements for Taylor Street and showcase a range of opportunities to create more inviting spaces in the Tenderloin.

At the event, we'll demonstrate how potential features like wider sidewalks, shorter pedestrian crossings and a protected bike lane could help improve Taylor Street. These ideas will be showcased using temporary physical installations, 3D models and guided tours so you can weigh in.

The event will also include social activities with community-based organizations and neighborhood businesses for all ages to take part in.

We hope you can join us!

Traffic and Parking Notice: The event will require the temporaryily closure of one travel lane as well as restrict parking on the west side of Taylor Street. The remaining two travel lanes on Taylor Street will remain open throughout the day. Although we expect minimal traffic impacts, people driving choose to use alternative streets such as Larkin or Leavenworth to reach destinations on or north of Taylor at and Eddy streets.
